The Alexsander has been in the game long enough to have moved past sound bites and passing moments. His new album Awareness is built like a timeline – 12 tracks that each reflect a stage in spiritual awakening, scored in cinematic techno and layered with personal history. The album moves between AI-manipulated vocals, Persian instrumentation, and modular synthesis, but the heart of the entire production relied on Komplete. Kontakt became the foundation for many textures, atmospheres, and tonal contrasts, helping him bridge synthetic modulation with organic resonance. From Massive and Hypha to Guitar Rig, Komplete offered the flexibility and depth to support an album that’s more philosophical than performative. In this interview, The...
A company from outside the DJ space releasing a product aimed directly at DJs is quite a rare occurrence, but thats what we have with the NTH-50s, the new headphones from RØDE. That’s a brand usually associated with content creation, live streaming, and pro audio. The NTH-50s have impressive specs, especially considering their relatively affordable price. Mojaxx tested them in the booth, to find out if RØDE really understand what DJs are looking for. Check out Mojaxx’s review of the NTH-50 headphones from RØDE on DJcity TV. This week on @RoadPodcast, the crew chops it up with @JasonJani — DJ, entrepreneur, and founder of @SCEEventGroup — as he shares his journey from New Jersey club nights to redefining private events. Jason recalls how he got his start in 1995, spinning at local spots like Deco Lounge and DJing on the Shore (2:30, 14:30). He talks about learning from setbacks (24:53) and how skills from corporate America helped shape his DJ business (25:48, 27:55). He explains how he broke the mold of the “cheesy wedding DJ” by bringing a nightclub mindset to private events (28:14), using YouTube to market himself (33:20), and building performances that spoke for themselves (35:34). From being recruited for the Watch The Throne tour to getting business...
There’s no shortage of free Kontakt libraries out there, but when you’re working on sci-fi material, many of them fall flat. Either they’re too clean, too on the nose, or too over-the-top to actually sit well under dialogue or pacing. What you really need are libraries that carry atmosphere without getting in the way: tools that feel like part of the world you’re building, not just layered on top. That means gritty textures, evolving drones, melodic tension, and subtle tonal movement that can stretch across entire cues without burning out and yet that still sounds just familiar enough to ground the song in the safety of home the sci-fi tropes contrast against. Many of the tools in this list run in the free Kontakt Player, giving you...
When UNER began writing CONTICINIUM, he wasn’t trying to chase a sound or make a comeback. He was confronting grief, silence, and emotional fragmentation – and using Reaktor to find structure inside the chaos. It’s the kind of album that doesn’t try to fit into a genre because the process behind it never did either. Across eleven tracks, he pulls together fragments from his classical training, modular systems, and club background to build something that feels more like a journal than a record. Reaktor is all over it – from Monark bass foundations and Metaphysical Function textures to unpredictable transitions built with Akkord and Blocks. Each ensemble serves the album’s emotional architecture rather than any fixed stylistic idea. In...
Rezident’s debut album Feeling Fades is loaded with emotional nuance and sonic detail, but the production choices behind it are grounded in a tight, personal toolkit. The Berlin-based producer has built his reputation on melodic textures and clean, expressive arrangements, and for most of this record, Kontakt and Komplete libraries played a central role in sketching out everything from guitars to basses. Instead of chasing massive expansion packs or falling into too many choices, Rezident leans into a practical, repeatable process. Libraries like Rickenbacker Bass and Electric Sunburst ended up shaping key moments on the album, including tracks like “Muse” and “Our World.” But even more than that, they let him stay locked into the flow...
SYML’s third studio album Nobody Lives Here came together through a focused and personal process. Written, recorded, and produced with longtime collaborator Brian Eichelberger, the record reflects a clear set of priorities: simplicity over excess, emotion over perfection, and trust in one’s own creative instincts. After years of working in varied recording scenarios, this album felt like it needed more privacy and less outside influence. The sessions were built on restraint with limited instruments, early vocal takes, and a willingness to commit to choices quickly. That discipline gave the songs space to breathe, both musically and emotionally. What emerged is a record that’s tightly composed yet deeply expressive, shaped by time...
Modestep’s new single “Shutting Down” kicks off a bold chapter in their sound, blending industrial synths, live guitar, and hyper-compressed drums into a hybrid format built for high-pressure sets. Released back on March 28, the track marks the beginning of a new era for the long-running UK project, who first broke out with their chart-topping debut Evolution Theory and have since played to crowds at Glastonbury, Coachella, EDC, and Woodstock Poland. The song’s palette is dense and high-gain but deliberately sculpted. In this interview, we break down how Massive helped shape the core tones of “Shutting Down,” how Modestep keeps aggressive layers balanced with emotional pacing, and why their workflow still revolves around fast recall...

David Castellani’s new EP Self Saboteur, out now on his Noetic label, builds on years of modular synthesis, distortion-heavy processing, and cinematic arrangement work. Whether he’s shaping vocals, tightening low end with parallel distortion, or pushing chaos through pitch pedals, Guitar Rig has been part of that process from the start. In this interview, Castellani explains how he uses Guitar Rig in techno production workflows, how he automates movement using mapped MIDI controls, and why he’s increasingly leaning on its flexibility across vocals, synths, and full buses. Jump to these sections: How Castellani uses Guitar Rig on vocals, synths, and full return chains Why distortion and saturation need to stay focused in the upper...
On July 20, 2025, Captain Morgan, the UK’s top rum brand, drops Muck Pit Brew in Manchester. This drink blends Spiced Gold rum with mango and hop flavors, hitting like a crisp beer with a rum kick. It’s made for folks tired of their usual order. Two underground heavyweights, Badger and A Guy Called Gerald, are set to light up the launch. A Guy Called Gerald built acid house with tracks like ‘Voodoo Ray’, a tune that still drives dance floors wild. Badger, a newer name, is already making noise with his bold, genre-mixing DJ sets. Their energy promises a night to remember. A Guy Called Gerald / Image Credit: Fergus McDonald The day kicks off with Muck Pit Brew vans roaming Manchester, handing out free samples at spots like Directors...
Despite some people (like Mojaxx) not being big fans of it, the Xone 92 is without a doubt the best selling DJ mixer of all time. Allen & Heath themselves have produced a MKII version for 2025, but there’s also a new player in the 4+2 club mixer game – the Union Audio elara.6 from the original creator of the 92, Andy Rigby-Jones. Mojaxx examines the elara.6, and finds out what elevates it above that classic design. Check out Mojaxx’s review of the elara.6 from Union Audio on DJcity TV. The post The XONE Killer? Brazilian DJ, composer, and live performer BLANCAh has built a sound world that’s equal parts immersive and introspective. Her new single “The Garden of Morning Calm” teases the upcoming third album Music for When the World Is Silent, which is a release that blends her melodic techno roots with orchestral textures and drum-heavy impact. Accompanied by a tasteful remix from the legends Hernán Cattaneo & Mercurio, the release is another step in her journey as an artist who leads with creative intent. That clarity carries over into her DJ sets, where Traktor remains her platform of choice. With nearly 15 years on the system, BLANCAh uses its looping tools, remix decks, and deck view customizations to maintain control over long-form...
This week on @RoadPodcast, the crew sits down with the legendary @KoolBobbLove a.k.a. Bobbito Garcia — DJ, author, and cultural icon. At 00:55, Bobbito breaks down the inspiration behind his new book “Bobbito’s Book of B-Ball Bong Bong!”, touching on caregiving, basketball, and his writing process. He and @DJcrooked reminisce about growing up in the same building (11:45), and at (18:45), he shares his thoughts on Rap vs. Hip-Hop, giving today’s scene a “under 5” rating. At (22:55), he reflects on his lifelong love for Hip-Hop, sneakers, basketball, and DJing. He opens up about stepping back from performing live (37:55) and honors his father’s legacy and roots in Puerto Rican pro basketball (49:01). Crooked reflects on Bobbito always...
Avision’s sound is grounded in years of club experience, early vinyl training, and a sharp instinct for grooves that move a crowd. Born and raised in Staten Island, he honed his skills as a teenager DJing and producing, and that foundation is evident in the way he approaches rhythm: hands-on, human, and full of feel. His upcoming single “All Over (NYC Mix)” is a return to his roots, channeling the city’s pulse through tight, swinging drum work and bold percussive choices. At the heart of his drum process is Native Instruments Battery, a tool he leans on not for convenience but for control. Instead of stacking prebuilt loops, he focuses on every transient, layering hi-hats with intention, and using swing to bring breath back into...
